Concept: A mild café racer approached with BMW’s conservative appeal. The aesthetics are inspired by BMW’s Pre World War II racers; most notably the blackened forks, wheel hubs, and rims.

Notables: Matching number frame & engine, complete engine top & bottom end overhual, complete clutch overhaul including a lightened flywheel, new wiring harness, Dyna III ignition system, rebuilt /7 transmission transplant (5 gears), rebuilt final drive with new driving dog in rear wheel, new exhaust system, Hoske mufflers, Hagon Classic III shocks, stainless steel battery covers, /5 Toaster tank with kneepad option, powder coated wheels & hubs, stainless steel spokes, rebuilt speedometer, reproduction LWB bench seat, Motocili Veloci clip-ons, Albert shortened mirror, new paint and hand pinstriped, etc…

Shows: This bike was personally invited to The Celebration of The Motorcycle (Concours d’Elegance, Del Mar, California) and was the only BMW Café Racer to accompany Pre-War and Post War BMW classics; singles, /3, & /2.

1972 BMW R75/5 Toaster SWB - (An Old Pony)

May 7th, 2012 - Just added this short wheel base R75/5 to the stable. We were able to negotiate a pretty good deal earlier this morning out in Pomona, CA. The bike clocks in at about 55,000 miles (original) and has not been ridden or registered since 1981. The one owner bike was a tourer and comes with a Wixom / BMW fairing and rear luggage. Engine turned over smoothly, loosing compression on the right cylinder. Toaster tank is superb with factory red-lining inside the tank and the headlight bucket / speedo has been protected all these years by the fairing. Restoration will begin this fall and hopefully we’ll be able to find an owner by the beginning of 2013.

1983 BMW R100 Cafe Racer Project - (Tank & Fairing Pre-Fitment)

May 4th, 2012 - A delay with fitting the Flatracer fairing occurred when we realized that the lower brackets were not present in the package. Edgar at Flatracer was quick to remedy this situation and sent the brackets across the pond in a matter of a few days. It took us a couple hours to adjust the positioning of the fairing this morning with the lower brackets; in the process we added a spacer to clear the bottom side of the tank and utilized a small sheet metal tab to hold the bracket ends down to the fairing. Overall the fitment was a success and the bolt-on-system from Flatracer even impressed Mark, who over the years have customized many fairing bracket systems for his BMW’s.

*A word of advice for those that are considering an aftermarket fairing for your BMW… “It is worth noting that although much improved, these fairings are a replica of the original produced back in the 70s - In those days they were hand panel beaten in alloy and as such were never 100% symmetrical…”
